CIMnext
Yocto and CIMnext work together on work preparation software for the metal industry, developed by Yocto and built on YoctoniQ.
CIMnext is a modular platform for work preparation, calculation and quotation in the metal industry. It turns 3D CAD models and 2D drawings into usable production data for sheet metal and fabrication work. Yocto and CIMnext build this platform together.
Two companies, one shared idea
Yocto and CIMnext share the same conviction: manufacturers should not have to search through, interpret and re-enter their CAD data by hand. The geometry is already in the model, and software should read it out reliably so that people can focus on their craft.
CIMnext brings decades of hands-on experience in sheet metal, machining and CAD/CAM, and a clear view of how work preparers and estimators actually work. Yocto brings the geometric software and the development team. Together we turn that practical knowledge into software that metalworkers can start using straight away.
Built on YoctoniQ
CIMnext runs on YoctoniQ, the same geometric kernel behind all Yocto developments. YoctoniQ provides the mathematical algorithms that read the exact geometry from the model and recognise what is in it: welded constructions, assemblies, sheet metal parts, tubes and profiles, purchased parts and production features.
Because every CIMnext module builds on this kernel, all modules work on the same product data and digital structure. That keeps the platform consistent as it grows.
Built by Yocto, drawing on the hands-on experience of CIMnext
Yocto develops and maintains the CIMnext software. Every improvement to YoctoniQ benefits CIMnext directly, and what we learn from CIMnext users in practice flows back into the kernel and our other developments.
First release
On 1 October 2026 the first two modules were released:
- CIMview: a free CAD viewer with automatic part type recognition
- CIMparts: work preparation, with export to existing Excel calculations
Further modules for unfolding, routing, calculation and quotation, nesting and optimisation will follow step by step.
